About the course
What is job shadowing?
Job shadowing under Erasmus+ offers a highly effective way for teachers and educators to grow professionally and personally. It strengthens the skills and competences of participants, brings new ideas into schools, and promotes European cooperation in education. Whether you’re a teacher, trainer, or school leader, your first job shadowing experience may open doors to a new level of professional excellence — and contribute to a more innovative, inclusive, and united European education system.
Information
Future participants of the Job Shadowing mobility will take part in one online meeting with the local representative of the country they have chosen one week before the JS starts. What they need to expect about it, the Educational System organization of the chosen country and detailed information about the school and the city where they are going to be will be provided during this meeting.
Incoming teachers (there will be no more than four people) can take part in the same or different lessons during the duration of the JS. The timetable for the week needs to be provided to the local representative of PMS Erasmus.
Welcome meetings with school presentations, assistance to the hosted teachers during the week at school, methodology assessments after the lessons, etc. will happen during the time they are shadowing hosting teachers.
Incoming teachers will receive the learning agreement in an editable format by the time they register for the mobility and it will be completed by the hosting school before the mobility starts. Additionally, the hosting organization will sign this learning agreement at the end of the JS mobility.
School hosting rules will be followed by the participants of the JS mobility, such as data protection issues for students, for instance.
Cost and Erasmus+ funding
The Job Shadowing mobility is tailored to be fully funded by Erasmus + to teachers, trainers, headmasters and any other staff of education organizations so the Erasmus + grant covers all the costs of the course. The cost of the Job Shadowing experience is 350€ for a 3-day mobility per person. This cost includes online meetings before and after the mobility, assistance and welcome meeting in the hosting school, three day observed lesson and compulsory documents to fulfil Erasmus + requirements as a part of the administrative task that you need to do as a participant. So, the company offers guidance and will help with all necessary documents that the participant can need due to the Erasmus framework rules.
Methodology
This experience is fully adapted to the participant’s professional interests and profile. It can be carried out in any type of educational institution — including kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, vocational education centres and adult education organisations if possible-. Participants take part in real activities within the host institution, attend lessons, observe meetings, follow administrative processes, and engage in informal exchanges with staff and educators.
Furthermore, the monitoring and mentoring arrangements will include the following activities:
Scheduled dialogues between the participant and the hosting mentors.
Periodical reviews of the learning outcomes and completed tasks.
- Consultations between the mentoirs at the hosting and sending organization.
- Communications between participants and the hosting organization during the mobitiy.
The learning outcomes will be recognized at the end of the period of mobility and after fulfilling all activities of the present learning agreement. The sending and hosting organizations will take part in the recognition process.
By observing real practices, sharing experiences, and building new partnerships, participants return not only with improved teaching strategies but also with a stronger sense of community and purpose.
